Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which includes Autism and Aspergers syndrome, is a neuro-biological disorder that affects communication, socialisation, and the processing of information from the environment through the senses. This in turn can manifest as unusual or challenging behaviours, rituals or play routines.
The cause is not fully understood and as yet there is no cure. However we do know that individualised, highly structured education and therapy programs are the best practice in making a difference for children and families affected by autism.
